I`ve got a guy that has a Spanish double for sale and would like an opinion good or bad. It has 28"bbl, 2 3/4" chamber, Imported sometime in the 1960`s, tight lock up, shiny bores, IC/MOD, marked GASPAR ARIZAGA EIBAR, Dakin Gun Company, San Francico

I hope somebody chimes in that knows a little about these guns. I have one in .410 that my wife has claimed. She hit the first 4 squirrels she shot at... next thing I know, she say's it's hers.

Mine has double beads, brass p/g cap and brass buttplate with deer engraved on the buttplate. flower and scroll engraving on the receiver. Beavertail forearm, double triggers. Mine (sorry... the Mrs.) has blued rec. instead of coin finish. It also doesn't say Dakin Gun Co.. Instead it's marked Eagle Arms, Gaspar Arizaga Eibar.

I hope you get some info on the one your'e looking into. I wouldn't take less than 1K for mine (even though I paid considerably less). There has been a 10 gauge that matches my .410 in Gunlist for $800. It's been in there for 2 years so it must not be a "hot item".

I don't believe Dakin brought in any POS guns. 375 would be an eeasier throw for me than 2800!

It was during the 60's that Spanish guns earned the POS name. It does not stand for pride of Spain. I can not speak for the gun you talk about but watch out!

It certainly looks like it's worth $375 to me. $375 will barely get you a well used 1100 or 870, these days. If it feels good in your hands, go for it.

I owned that gun and believe me it is a POS. Run from it!

Don't get me wrong, I love Spanish guns and have had many, to include the G. Arizaga Dakin import, a Urbiola SLE, several Ugartecheas both BLEs and SLEs, a Victor Sarasqueta, and a Union Armera Consort.

The Arizaga is just plain bad news. Mine doubled consistently and the sears were so soft I could bend them in my hands. I fixed the doubling issue by making and installing another trigger and cleaned up the mechanical parts of the gun, but it was a lot of work for a $400 gun. My dad still has it and we shot it a couple of weeks ago and the funny thing is, I do shoot it well --lol.

But just not worth the headache when there are better guns out there for a few dollars more.

That`s why I ask first and buy second. I was mezzzmerized by the engraving and wood and price. If you fellas say it`s a POS then i`ll just pass on it and I thank ya very much.

David, was yours a DT gun? Spanish single triggers, especially from the 60's, are notoriously problematic. However, this is a DT gun. I've shot a bunch of relatively inexpensive Spanish guns with DT and I don't think I've ever had any doubling issues. O'Connor talked about Arizaga trigger problems, but that was on a couple SST guns.
