I recently bought a 12ga Merkel O/U that I was told was a 201 prewar. Since it was stamped 752 on the water table I guessed it was made in July '52. I'm not sure what the model is. It has a case colored receiver with simple scroll engraving. It is an ejector gun. It is very tight and I would rate it a solid 95%. Most of the guns I have seen as 201's have been heavily engraved on the receivers. Could this be a 200? Some variation?
The gun is light and very handy . A very nice shotgun what ever it is.

About #35000+? Say 6 1/2 pounds? Sounds like a standard post-war 200E to me. - Regards, Jani

The model 200 was a nice gun, just had less engraving than the 201 and maybe plain Jane wood. Good values for the money, usually under $2,000 in that condition. Strong guns, no need to worry about Wally Mart boomers, just shoot 'em.
