Well after a year of working this deal, it finally was finished yesterday. After a very long day of driving this gun is home at last. I am the 3rd owner of this little jewel. It is among the last groups of .410's made by L.C. Smith as it's a very late production gun.

Tomorrow I will take comparison pictures of this gun sitting next to my Eagle Grade 12g Long Range 3" gun with 32" tubes! Talk about David and Goliath!

This .410 has 28" tubes, two triggers, extractors, and a Beavertail forend. A neat story goes with this gun, and I will share it one day here once I document all of it.

Now, I must STOP looking for guns to add to my collection! If you don't believe me, ask my wife! (for a while anyway)

Nice gun! What year is it from. The case colors are very nice. The colors on the later LC's seem to have more straw color on the lock plates and vivid blue behind the breech balls and along the side of the frame under the barrel flats. Is this pattern typical of later guns or is it just gun to gun variation?

I think the case color varies greatly from gun to gun. The "straw color" comment I agree with as I see that color more abudant in later guns too, but I have no idea why.

I spoke to a fellow collector whom has SEVERAL .410 Elsie's...he relayed a story to me on how it was found that there were several .410 barrels found stored at the factory. They didn't want these to go to waste so they "pushed" a group of .410's out at the very last bit of production.

Jason, that is a little gem! And the 28" tubes should help when it comes time to shoot at something with it. Congratulations!
