I took this pic today as my dog trainer was getting my Gordon Setters out for some field work. It started to rain and my son, JT, said "look " and pointed to the sky. I had the camera ready as I was going to take some pics of my dogs working. I had never seen both sides of the rainbow before, nor had I seen two rainbows, or for that matter, had I seen the sky have different shades above and below the rainbows.

The other pics are of Hank the bird dog (named after the hero of the "Hank the cowdog" childrens books) retrieving his first quail, and the other is just before I shot over Hank for the first time. The trainer, Fred Fann, is mighty impressed with the Gordon's bird sense. Hank has a way to go but he has lot of potential.

This is me just trying not to miss

By the way, the perspective of this picture is kind of funny, the Trainer is well off to the side of me and not in the field of fire.

Cousin Wallis, glad you got to see the rainbow. You have a few more rainbow variations to look forward to. Variations I can verify are very bright triple rainbows showing complete arch of each and the rarest which I have never heard anyone else report but I witnessed at 9000ft along the Arizona/N.Mex border while camped for elk - a rainbow by light of an almost full moon about 10:00 PM! Looks like your pup will be a lot of fun. Besure the trainer teaches you how to do the training as it is not a one time thing but a constant part of your life with the dog. Dogs are situation sensitive and what they do for you will be different than when the trainer is present unless you become the trainer.

How nice to see another Gordon in the field. Looks like he is on his way to be a good dog. I see that you are using the right type of equipment (sxs gun).
I have been working my 18 month old English setter on pen chukars and pheasants and keep some quail for training purposes also. Listens well, jsut have to work on his stance. He really doesn't look "intense" on point.
More birds better dog.

Here is a picture of the gun I am using. I am getting the dogs used to the sweet report of 12 bore RST Bests going though the 28 inch Whitworth Fluid Compressed Steel Tubes of a 1908 Purdey.

BTW, the case was made for another Purdey with 30" tubes but is of the same vintage of my gun and is a Purdey case.

A class guy in a great setting for a wonderful sport with a cool gun and a promising pup. Then, you get an end-to-end bright double rainbow. I gotta believe you have been given a message.

Thanks for sharing the photos and the story.

Great to see a rainbow like that but even better to see a Purdey out and about in the thickets of Tennessee!!! Reading another book about hunting in Africa back in 1843 to 1847. His favorite.......a double barrelled Purdey. Great pics and good lookin Gordon!!!
All the best
