Hello.
I am looking for the differents professionnels in gunmaking traditionally, with the description of what they do.
As, the one making the barrel rough, the one assembling the two barrels, and the one soldering the ribs( canonnier garnisseur), fitting the barrels to the receiver (basculeur), installing the sidelock or the inside of the A&D ( marcheur), the one receiving the gun and doing the final touch before blueuing. The one doing the inside honing of the bore, choke and doing the chamber and rims (rectifieur).
If you see other I may have forgotten (stockmaker, checkerer) please thank you to add them, with arough description if possible.
Thank you
geoffroy

The fine book by Trevallion , Shotgun Technicia, gives a really interesting account of the how, who, and what of the Purdey way of building a gun. I just enjoyed reading it again last evening and it answers your questions for Purdey. Other makers had slightly different ways of building a gun.

Another great 'gee wizz' reference is the new H&H video. I've watched it several times now.
