I have just finished lowering and slimming the comb on a Browning Citori. At this time I would like to reapply a finish to the reworked area that will match the original finish (want to use for the rest of duck season). A 2008 project will be to remove all stock and fore arm finish and refinish with Tru-Oil.
Several years ago a member said he used a finish sold by Home Depot that very closely matched the Citori finish.
Would appreciate your inputs on matching finishes.
Thanks for your help.

I think you're gonna have trouble making it look decent. The original field grade guns are dark stained before finishing. MinWax Special Walnut stain comes close but needs to be a bit darker. Maybe a drop of Ebony in a small cup of the Special Walnut?

Thanks for the feedback. I will experiment with the stain and see how it looks.

Use poly to match the original gloss finish. I have been cutting floor grade poly with about 20% mineral spirits and it works like wiping poly but has long life. bill
