I guess you'll be interested to look at
mod.8 12G-70 28" made in 1953 Krupp 3-rings steel 98% condition
mod.?(unknown for me) 16G-70 28" made in 1957 "Krupp 4-rings" 95% condition
I sold both guns today during 30 minutes and the first one for 2,200 and second one for 2,940, prices are growing still...

Both are very nice looking, I especially like that sidelock. I am not sure what model # that would be. I love Sauers, Simsons, and Merkels, primarily pre war, but I do have some post war guns as well. Some of the best buys on the used gun market, IMO. Very well built guns.

Boche our fav neighbors to the west made good guns. They take a likin' and keep on tickin'. They don't fall apart like some of those older Spanish or Belgian guns and are not nearly as weirdo as French offerings. It does pay dividends to have an oily rag on hand to keep oxidation off them barrels after use.
Thanks for nice pics. Nothing gets one into spirit of Chrisnukah quite like a German or Austrian flinte. Just think Christmas tree, cuckoo clock plus warm und cozzy fire place on Chritmas eve.

Do any of you have much experience with the post-war sauer sidelocks? I see one every now and then, but am not sure about the quality. They can be a little heavy, right?

The ones from German Democratic Republic were not too heavy. Some of the ones from Federal Republic of Germany were........well, lets just say they were designed for US market and not go there!

I have a gorgeous 1896 Sauer sidelock imported for the US market and it is a lightweight handling dream! It has the same look and engraving pattern as the Daly/Sauer drillings.

I've got pre war Sauer sidelocks, too, a couple of V L & D imports, and a bunch of boxlocks. I seldom see post war sidelocks like the one Geno pictured. That late model sidelock is a nice looking gun.

That isn't exactly "post war" is it? It was made well before there were two Germanys.

HB01, this particular sidelock weight 6 pounds 3 oz. All postwar Sauer's made in GDR were solid and well made guns.
