I recently acquired a grade 3 Ithaca Lewis model in nice shape, but the grip cap is missing. I have been trying to find a photo of an original cap by looking at ones for sale on the internet, but I have not found a photo where the grip cap can be seen in enough detail to really determine what it looks like. I cannot find a photo of one in Walt's book either. Anyone have a good verbal description and/or a photo? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think it was a 2 stepped oval. I don't have a Lewis in hand anymore but will ask the man who does. Later.

Yes, it has a 2 step oval w/ crosshatching or checkering on each step.

Spot on James-l, that's it. Mine has some wear & doesn't show all the crosshatching.
Kind Regards,
