Anyone have any experience with the current production Stoeger Over Unders and side by sides? I am considering purchase of one of their over under "youth models" to start my daughter with. They come in 20 ga. or .410 with a 13" pull, 22" barrels and weigh in at 5 1/2 lbs. All this for about $350.00

The made in Brazil stuff looks about like it was made and put together by the Amazon jungle Indians. Pretty rough stuff. I have no idea how they might hold up, nor will I ever find out unless someone else makes me aware of that information. If it were me, I would look elsewhere.

Hi, I bought my 12 yr old son a Condor Youth in 20ga this year. He has used this gun on everything from clays to ducks and upland game. While crude as Chief states, this gun has performed very well. No failures at all (FTF, doubling). The fit and finish are ok, the wood is rough, but the wood on my boys gun has some very nice figure to it. It was hard opening at first, but now opens just fine.
We looked at the SxS Uplander, way to heavy and clunky for a youth model (of course I'm far from being an Uplander fan).
For my son the bottom line is he loves it! He's shot quite a few birds this year and said he would not trade it for anything. To me thats all that counts.
Good Luck!!!
Greg
P.S. The gun comes with only 2 choke tubes (IC/Mod) I got some after market tubes from Carlsons, Winchester threads fit this gun perfect.

gjw,
How does your son like the balance and swing of the Condor? I have some concerns about the short barrels making it a little butt heavy. Any problems with recoil due to lightweight?
Thanks,
Al

Hi Al, he likes the feel and balance just fine, of course he is a bit small for 12, but he has been hitting and killing birds on a regular bases. To my surprise, the guns balance is just fine, just about an inch ahead of the hinge pin.
As far as recoil, not a problem (he's even been shooting 3" on ducks, he has not complained once).
Overall, while a bit crude (finish wise), its been a very good and reliable gun.
Best of luck!!!
Greg
