Dave:
We all love this board and applaud your efforts to provide a forum for SxS enthusiasts to exchange information have some good discussions and have a little fun. But as Jim Legg's last post demonstrates, as the political animals come into heat we are sure to see a lot more that is well off the mark for this board. I would like to suggest that you set up another sub topic for political topics ...... or at least require that posters of political stuff be required to label it in the subject line ...... not just call it "OT." I hope you'll give this some thought.

NO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I cannot disagree more vigorously. Join the other boards if you seek to project and argue politics on a gun forum. There is no more political animal in the universe, but I need a place away, from that side of me, to fellowship with gun guys and those that love SxSs. Please no P&P here. Best, John

John: I wish there was a way to keep the politics out ....... but given what I've seen here in the past I don't think that's realistic. At least if it had it's own category those of us who would like to keep this about SxS's could avoid wasting our time sifting through the political clutter.

SSB is a waste of band width. I almost never even look at it anymore. John is right we need one political free zone. Delete the post, thread or even ban the poster if needed. Let us keep it just about guns, not political animals.

This is an international board. Americans aren't particularly interested in Finnish, French or Canadian politics, and others here and there may wish the current US interregnum never happened and would just go away.
I didn't join the board to discuss politics. I find it tedious. From all appearcnces in the media, in the run-up to the primaries, the US political class itself still hasn't got the message of serious economic crises and underlying structural challenges.
One shouldn't expect anything more revealing from this board. There is no way, however, to excise silly partisan comment. Politics is in everything, the art of life. But all here recognize worn-out jingoism and can ignore it for what it is.

Economic crises, structural challenges?? Sure sounds like political comments from the great socialist north ( my political comment) Tedious indeed, until we each have a chance. bill

I vote for a political free zone.
I can and do read all the politics I want in national newspapers of countries I have an interest in. I can and do indulge in as much political discussion as I want on their Internet fora and with friends living in those countries. There really is no equal to this board for discussion of double guns and their use.

As I said, Bill, everything is politics, even fair comment relating to what many Americans are aware: extraordinary fiscal, current account, trade, oil and social deficits; the world's only superpower now owing the rest of the world instead of previously the rest of the world owing it.
With little or no discussion of these structural challenges by presidential hopefuls in the primary battles, I said it's unlikely one could expect serious political comment here, only more of the tedious rants which from the replies so far indicate members felt unanimously they could do without.
I don't think Canadians mind being called the socialist North. That's fair comment, too. The US and Canada have mixed economies. Canada's is the strongest of the G8. The US does more business with one province, Ontario, than it does with Japan. We've a whopping trade surplus, and shipping increasing amounts of natural gas, oil and hydro south.
Regards, King

This is an important political year, alot hinges on the outcome. So much so, as you might be playing put-put golf in your golden years instead of hunting and gun collecting. Your cabinet could always be used for tea pots eh?
