hi guys im brand new to this site, i was referred to by some folks from the duckboats site.
3 days ago i finished paying off my newest toy, an a.h.fox 12 gauge with 28 inch barrels the gun is beautiful and i want to hunt ducks with it. hevi shot came out with what they call "classic double" and is supposed to be safe to shoot through a gun like mine i ordered two boxes in #2's. a few guys on dhbp told me that was two big for a mod and full choked gun.

my question is are these loads ok to shoot, has anyone fired these rounds in a similar gun and how did they performed?

i also have a question regarding the butt stock which seems to be just a little loose, what should i do besides tightening the bolt inside the stock?

thanks much for your help

Ed: a 'just a little loose' buttstock may very well be a crack down the middle of the head of the stock. I would suggest a good check and clean by a doublegun specialist smith prior to shooting the gun. Sorry.

thanks homeless joe, does anyone know what shot sizes are available? i told my dealer to order #2's - not knowing anything about them, but its what i shoot for ducks out of my 870. i read some of the posts and one said that 4,5,6's will be available, do they even make #2's?

and i didnt see if anyone had tried it in a double gun like mine.
according to my dealer my fox was made in the 30's...if that helps, or does it make any difference.

as far as the butt stock there are no visible cracks anywheres on the gun, if thats not it does anyone know of a double gun smith in the northern new england area that i could get contact info to make a call to?

thanks

If your Fox looks like this one with the wide top-tang it is a drawbolt model. All others just have the two screws between the upper and lower tang holding them together.

Hey, it's shaped like TIE fighter from Star Wars. Very cute!
