Ran across a C&H Mauser 98 in 30.06, no engraving, about 75% bluing remains - if original would only be a guess, light coloured walnut stock no big dings but used, 3 leaf open sights - one solid + 2 fold downs together, barrel only fair. I"ve never seen one in all my travels-how scarce are these guns? Does anyone out there have one? A ball park guess at value would be appreciated. --- John Can.

C&H 'made' a lot of bolt-action rifles of mediocre quality for general use in Africa, for game department employees, that sort of thing. They are not as highly regarded as bolt-rifles from other Brit makers, being cheap mil Mauser conversions in the main. This one sounds like one of those, but you will have to judge the rifle on its merits. The company also made some stunning stuff of the highest quality, but sadly their cheap stuff has resulted in some unfair prejudice against the C&H name in the US, as far as valuation is concerned. Canadians are a bit more pragmatic in my experience!

Had a Coggie double square-bridge Mauser in 318 Westley Richards years ago. A nice top conditioned Brit rifle, but average in many ways. Think it was about 6500.00 or 7500.00 can't remember it all to well.

Lowell, That's flat out bull..., you probably don't don't remember where any photos of it are either...I'd like to see some proof of this fictitious gun...I'm just mirroring your posts...just like you...like you ever paid $5K + for a turnbolt...how's it feel wiseguy? Let's see that gun...or were you just flappin' your gums...
For those of you who don't know...first I apologize about your thread...this is exactly the kind of posts that Lowell has harassed me with...I no longer stand by and let him bash my posts indiscriminately...this is an attempt to bring the trash to him instead, in an effort to make him stop with his vicious behavior...and lies...now let's see some proof, lowell, you BS artist

Boy, Lowell! Robert doesn't seem to care for you even a little bit! As for me, if you said you had it, as far as I'm concerned YOU HAD IT!
Best Regards, George

I think a couple posters need a time out. This is not what this board is for, or needs. I quit looking a Lowell's drivel several months ago. Many others either do the same or figure it is just a laugh at a idiot.

Interesting you should bring this up. A week or so ago I looked at what I thought was a Parker hale sporting conversion of a lee Enfield, turned out it had Cogswell and Harrison on the barrel. It was a nice job, as good as Parker Hales anyhow. The asking price, $150 USD. I must admit I was tempted, but I really don't need any more Enfields(unless they are full military of course!), besides it was an Ishapore originally, which just don't speak to me. Maybe I should have, Ive never seen a C&H Enfield or Mauser before.
