Heading up to SD with my Flues and 11 month old pointing lab for a few days first week of Nov. I have some specific ideas for public places around Huron and Mitchell, would appreciate a PM from someone that wouldn't mind me bouncing some ideas off them. Last trip up was 3 years ago and I had a guide and private land then. Want my young dog to at least get some chances to get into a few.
Thank you, Dave

Dave, I'm leaving for Huron today. I have friends with farm property about 10 miles SW of town. I'll ask if they would mind you hunting the property. Nevertheless, hunting the ditches and weed patches around the county would be very good as well. Even if I got you on their property, the crops will be harvested and the only cover will be the field fringes, weed/cattail patches and ditches. but there's plenty of that. PM or email me and I'll get back with you early in the last week of Oct.

I was under the impression SD required non toxic shot on public lands so you might evaluate your arsenal before your depart.

Chuck- Pm sent, thank you!!
Jerry- The way I am reading the regs, non-toxic is required for the Waterfowl production areas only as of now. I will take my Remington Ideal 12ga o/u with Remington HD if I get into that situation. If I am wrong, I would appreciate a heads up form someone intimately familiar with the situation.
Thank you, Dave

See page 45 of the 2007 SD hunting and trapping handbook on the SD game fish and parks website. Nearly all public hunting areas require nontoxic shot. It has been that way since the mid to late 1990s

Thank you Steve, I would not want to be in error and get a ticket on something so easily corrected.
