I refinished a parker stock for a friend and found out that I don't know how to get it back in time. When I took it apart I put it in fired mode to get the pressure off the sears so I could remove them so the stock could slide off the action. After putting everything back together I can't hang the barrels.

Since the Parker board seems to be down, I'll try to help. I just refinished a Parker Repro. and putting it back together was harder than taking it apart, that's for sure! I don't think the problem is related to removing the sears if you put them back the way they came out. It's hard to say what the problem is with so little info, but I bet the cocking slide under the trigger plate is the culprit. The barrels must engage the hook and maybe something didn't get back the way it was. Will the barrels go on most of the way but the action won't close? Maybe the top lever release button with the tiny plunger (and spring inside) is binding or not free. Does it seem to work properly (releasing the top lever)? Also, is the hook that the barrels must connect to free? I'd start by taking off the trigger plate and see if everything went back the way it should. Hope this helps; if not, maybe a more specific explanation of the problem would help.

Thanks for the reply Joe. I figured it out. I needed to get the hammers cocked again for everything to line up. It took awhile but I finally got it by holding the cocking plate with my thumb and pushing the hook with an appropriate sized pin punch.Once the hammers were cocked it all fell into place as it should.

That's interesting, Mike, because mine went back together uncocked and then cocked as usual after the forend was on, when I opened it. I'm glad you got it back together! My problem was a safety that slid forward somehow and blocked both triggers so the safety and triggers did not work, and the gun wouldn't open. Easy enough to fix; I just pushed the triggers forward a bit and everything went back to normal. Never happened since.
