There are two wonderful articles in the current Double Gun Journal. It has some great photos. But which gun would you prefer? And why? I prefer the Lefever. jas
Currently own two Morgan cars. Starting on Black Powder hunting to advoid the mob of riflemen.

I prefer Lefever. I could find the scratch to buy a Lefever shooter--maybe a DS steel-barreled for about 5C. I can't justify two Sterlingworth prices for a Trojan or VH. I also think I'm a bit leery of the Parker mechanism. The DS would be at home with the G and the FE; the Parker would desire companionship and my wife thinks I'm already harbouring too many extended families.

Wow. A bit leery of the Parker mechanism? They've only been functioning for oh, a hundred years or so.

There are surely a lot of parts in the Parkers but as Buddy said, what's there to be leery about. Every part is very well made and properly heat treated to last forever. I love them both about equally. Lefevers are still cheaper, no thanks to the Lefever organization, publicity and website. The Syracuse Lefevers are an absolute marvel of simplicity and genius. If old Dan had been able to get along with his various partners and stay in one business for a relatively long length of time, who knows how big those wonderful Syracuse guns would have been. I have another one coming, a steel-barreled G grade. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE-HAAAAAAAAAAH!

Did you buy Jim Aikens', Jim? Won't have to crank the comb up on that one!

I did. Might be my new favorite trap gun. I'll probably have one for sale, also.

Trojan is mentioned. I'll be looking at a "real good" one next week, 90 per cent blue, 30 per cent cc, screws and checkering good, for $800. Sounds reasonable to me but what do others think as ballpark price, please?

Though I like the slim design and feel of the 'Automatic Hammerless' Lefever, I would have to go with the Parker. Buy it, shot it, abuse it and then have a firearm that is still worth more than you paid for it!! Why the Parker has achieved this status over some very good if not better designs.........I'm still trying to figure that one out! All the best
