Anyone from the UK attend or buy? Looking at the results it seems like there were some strange prices achieved and a few bargains. O/U seemed much more popular than SxS; expensive rifles were slow to move. Was the weak US$ a major factor?

A pair of 12g Pedro Arrizabalagas estimated at £2,000 - £2,500 (which I thought underpriced) sold for £2,400. Great value in my view!
PEDRO ARRIZABALAGA - A PAIR OF LITTLE USED 12-BORE SELF-OPENING SIDELOCK EJECTORS, serial no. 10474 / 5, 26in. 'Acero Cromo Niquel' nitro chopperlump barrels with raised filed ribs, gold-inlaid '1' and '2', tubes engraved 'PEDRO ARRIZABALAGA - EIBAR. ESPECIAL ARMERIA . DIANA TURBA.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and 1/2 choke, treble-grip actions with side-clips, Holland & Holland self-opening systems, hand-detachable lockplates, articulated front triggers, cocking-indicators, automatic safeties, bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining virtually full original colour-hardening and finish, 15 1/4in. stocks including 1in. ventilated rubber recoil pads, weight 7lb. 2oz

Thankfully I'm a shooter not a dealer, I would have been way off on many of those prices

As wonderful as they are, the Continental guns do not bring the buyers that the British ones do. I think the group of Fukert type action double rifles have been unsucessfully auctioned before, so they remain unsold. The vintage hammer guns did ok, and the good British sidelocks, except for a few very high priced guns seemed to sell. You are right on the Arrizabalaga pair.

DH,
Thanks for your response. I agree that some of the better Brit names did very well, but strange that "name" cases often made as much as some good guns. Some weird prices. Compare Lot 1400, a H&H Royal for £5,200. with Lot 1011, another H&H Royal(sleeved), which sold for £11,000! Sad to see the Purdey case (Lot 102) separated from its occupant (lot 1407). Hope that is not something that happens too frequently and hope they were reunited, the £800 case price indicates that they might have been.
K.
