Thanks for the clarification Dawson. I just know that Gander Mountain misses out on a large market by not having their stuff online, genius or not.
As for any gun dealer (or car dealer) who prices items with an over-inflated price, I know this much - they are missing out on a good chunk of customers with money to spend (such as myself) who don't even pick up the phone. If that is good business, I'm baffled.

I don't even bother looking at either of their gun sites,I do buy dog beds and other stuff from the catalog with the free points on the card. They don't make a nickle off me and send me stuff to float the credit for 3weeks. They seem to make oney each quarter(Ticker CAB) but its not from the used gun dept's I suspect. You should try and sell them something John,go in under cover of course and see how gullible they really are.

I have sold Cabelas a number of Double guns, and given that they have to make a buck, have always been happy with the transaction.

Deals are where you find them. My favorite is when one of the big stores completely misses the mark because of a computer glitch. I picked up a new Boyt Harness leather soft case that Boyt lists for $195 for $74.95 because the skue tag was wrong and the salesman didnt have a clue. Got a new System Two flyreel for the price of a spare spool for the same reason. Same with a pair of Northface mountaineering pants--20 bucks instead of 120 because the computer said so. Makes up for the frustration when there is something you really want but is ridiculously overpriced. Don't get mad--just get even.

Limapapa, so you think it is okay to shortchange the store if you can because a computer error was made by an employee. Should I assume you think it fair then when the store overcharges you from time to time; or your paycheck comes up a little short; or the bank deducts a little extra from your account because there was a "computer glitch"?

You gentlemen are stepping into some very very deep water when you accuse "limapapa" of stealing from the store when all he was doing was taking advantage of what he perceived to be a pricing error in marking up goods. Who knows, maybe it wasn't an error at all. Regardless, may I assume we all report our capital gains (or losses) to the IRS when selling or trading a firearm? I certainly hope so, otherwise we'd all be guilty of stealing from Uncle Sam. After reading comments like these (and not for the first time) that I am compelled to ask the IRS to audit my tax returns just to be sure my ethics are never compromised.

Most people do the right thing when they are presented with someonelse's mistake. We have all had the chance to do as he did but many others choose to correct the mistake and either pay the fair price or not buy the item. If you are given too much money in change do you pocket it or give the extra back? I always give the extra back. I suggest that taking advantage of others is nothing to brag about and he would have been better to keep his "bargains" to himself.

I have never been able to deal with Cabelas. I go to the one in Dundee, Michigan. They are quick to point out every flaw in your guns but try to avoid you noticing the flaws in theirs. The one time I tried to trade 3 guns in they wouldn't even give me anywhere near wholesale for any one of them. I do think a Browning Citori Golden Lightning Clays with grade VI wood is worth more than $1,100. I finally got them up to $1,200 and that was the best they could do on a 95% to 98% gun. I walked and found other sources that would give you a fair trade in price. FWIW. Grade6man
