Anyone know if L R (Bob) Wallack made a bolt action 30 06 or 303 ...... I just found out that we are related and would like to have something he made. There is a 22-250 on GA ..... but I would have no use for it and I hate to own guns I never shoot

The 1950 Wallack catalog offers the .219 Donaldson, .22-250, .250 Donaldson, and .250 Donaldson Ace. These guns were made up on FN actions with double set triggers.

Wallack made anything the customer wanted. If you are are in no hurry you can get the rifle you want. Here is a picture of one in 35 Whelen.

Thanks guys ..... I'll start checking dealer sites. 35 Whelen would make a very good No. America big game gun.

Here is a picture of the boys at the Pine Tree Labor Day shoot of 1949. Mr. Wallack is located 4th row 2nd from left. Now who is that old timer in fron of him? Harvey Donaldson and Wilbur Hauck are also there [img] [/img] Oh it's Col. Whelen [img] [/img]

WOW .....great pix's ..... I'll try to enlarge the group photo and see if he looks anything like my dad .... I've been told they were first cousins...... very few family pix's from that side of the clan. Brian, thanks for the peak. Make me want one even more.

Brian,
Nice rifle, do you know when it was made? Is the sidemount marked "Griffin & Howe"?

This picture of Wallack is from his excellent book “Modern Accuracy in Bench Rest Shooting” Greenberg Publishing, 1951. A rather hard to find book on the history of rest shooting in the USA.

MP: Thanks for the pix. I ordered the book yesterday. Clearly a member of the clan .... same ears ..... we all have a dent in one of them ... mine is on the left. I guess I should try my hand at bench shooting ... might be something genetic!
