I have a set of barrels I would like to get Matte or Parkerized finished. I don't know exacty what the finish is but I want them to look like a Beretta 390 barrel. Better yet the small area on the 21's right before the rib it's a nice non gloss black. I just don't have it in me to take out a can of spray paint and do the deed. So if anyone has had the pleasure of working with a smith on something like this speak up now I want this wrapped up with'n 6 weeks.

I believe that the camo pattern is more like a film in a vat that the shotguns are dipped into. I don't think that you can just spray it on. What type of double might it be that you are wanting to give a coat?

Kind Regards,

I believe that Beretta referred to that flat black as a black chrome finish.
It was used on the barrel of a 303 auto I had and I seem to remember an older 686 Onyx that also had it.

It was very effective at avoiding reflected glare and held up well to use/abuse/cleaning on the guns that I had with it.

There are similar finishes being done to aftermarket handguns by the custom houses.

For black manganese parkerizing kits try:
http://shootersolutions.com/higdenchargr.html

But it'll be more agonizing than taking a can of spray paint to it - you really should sandblast or bead blast before parkerizing.

Duplicolor makes a series of engine spray enamels that are perfect for guns - enough heat resistance for barrels but much more durable than the very high temp paints that need an oven cure. And a lot cheaper and easier to apply than Dura Coat or similar dedicated gun paints. You can get a low gloss black Duplicolor engine enamel that may look like what you want in most auto parts stores.

I'd really like to get it done since I will admit I am no shadetree gunsmith.

I am wanting to take a Browning 525 20 that I use for ducks and have the just the barrels done. I also don't want to look like some HeeHaw when I go to shoot a few rounds of skeet with the gun either.

I would not parkerize a double of any kind... However, I did Parkerize a Model 70 and its awesome.
