I went to look at a Webley & Scott BLNE yesterday that was advertised as a model 700. It was actually an earlier model. I'm on the road and don't have a camera or reference materials. This gun is similar to one pictured in a thread by J.B. Patton with a few differences. The lug doesn't show through the bottom of the action and there is a bit less engraving. It has the round crossbolt but this gun doesn't have the small projection close to the barrels on the lug that can be seen on the other gun. The serial number is 68327. It is a heavy gun, 1 1/4 nitro proof, 3" chamber, 30" barrels marked choke modified on the right and full on the left, double triggers. It has the MAXM after the proof, which according to Terry Lubinski in mr. Pattons thread would put prior to 1904. The Birmingham proof mark has B on the left, O on the right, and P at the bottom. I was expecting a light game gun but the action is tight, bores excellent, and over all in very good condition so I bought it. I realize it is difficult without pictures but I would appreciate your comments. Thank you.
