George L's pictures and gun descriptions are too lacking for me...I've did enough mail order gun looking to last me a life time.

I'm scared I'd go broke paying return shipping before I found one of his guns that was safe to shoot.

Well, I agree regarding his descriptions. They have very few weights and measurements of his guns. I want to know the barrel length, LOP, cast and drop, wieght, chamber length, bore measurements and chokes, and barrel wall minimum thickness at least. Good quality photos of the action, stock, barrels....breech and muzzle, any special engraving or noteable blemishes make a much more professional presentation. Any short history of the gun or the maker should be added when applicable.

When I see adds with minimum info my radar immediately comes on and I usually pass over it. Blurry or poor quality photos are another sign that you may not be dealing with someone who cares about his merchandize or his customers. I just won't buy a gun from some Jack Leg who doesn't respect me as a potential buyer to trust me with enough information to make an informed decision. By decision, I mean whether to call or e-mail about the gun or not. No info gets no bid or offer.

In Southern drawl the word "Unspecialized" means not fitting rather rigid compartmentalization of gun types in English gun trade. Some examples include: fowlers, pigeon guns, game guns. Classic example of such a gun is 'Lightweight Pigeon Gun' by Lincoln Jeffries.

Concerning the Sommerda boxlock, number 16 on Erik's link,

Does anyone know the story behind this maker? when was it publicly owned and when was it privatly owned? Is it Correct that Dryse, who apprenticed under Pauly, founded this firm in Sommerda Germany...and the name began to evolve...something like Dryse to Rhienmetall Machinewaren (sp?) and eventually Heckler & Kock?

Is that Sommerda the same bloodline as HK? or have I got that twisted?

RM&M-Borsig AG is a big-bore specialist. I think they still make 120mm cannon for that steel coffin called M1A2.
Edmund Heckler and Theodor Koch came from Mauser Werke. Never heard of Sommerda. Are you thinking about certain town in Thuringia.

Is Glock in Sommerda?...Who did Rhienmetall evolve into?...It's definitly a Rheinmetall gun ...in fact, it caught my eye as perhaps a super gun...meaning it has an extra long Anson & Deeley action for maximum strength...like the Linders...I'm just trying to connect who made those extra long actions that Linder worked with...since the Linder operation was beyond tiny in comparison to Rhienmetall's, I assume Rhienmetall had the giant drop forge and not the other way around...just following a hunch...

Dear Homeless: Pardon me for my lacking of professional photography and a dearth of adequate description. you see, I AM NOT A DEALER! Dealers utilize professional photography (my grandaughter takes the pictures of my guns & puts them on the internet in between her college classes) Dealers have professional researchers to determine all specifications, measurements and provenance of their guns. I buy & sell real estate for a living. GUNS ARE MY HOBBY! There I've said it again.
Plus, Joe, you've never bought a gun from me. How would you know that you'd go broke with shipping charges before you would find one safe to shoot (I shoot almost all of my guns before I send them off to someone & still have both eyes, a nose & five digits on each hand) You really ought to try one before making such a ridiculous statement.
