Another one I purchased. I think it was sold as 6.5x65 or perhaps 6.5x68S. The stock is out of this world. Maker unknown to me. Perhaps you can shed some light on it.

At this point, about the only thing I can say is neither caliber is intended for varmint hunting (which is virtually unknown as a separate sport there). The 6.5x68S is in the class of the .264 Win. Mag, and the 6.5x65 is a .25-06 class cartridge. There should be no mystery as to the cartridge anyway, since after the 1939 German proof law, the manufacturer was required to stamp the common name of the cartridge, in a prominent location. I noted it carries both German and Austrian proofs. This suggests likely use mostly in Austria.

I really like that Austrian grip, Post WWII Scottish Fish Scales, so it was made post WWII.
