Although I was not out on St. Partridge Day I did have a very enjoyable (despite my score) time the day before at the British Open .410 Championship superbly organised by Richard Gray and the team at E. J. Churchill.

As always a very welcoming and friendly crowd.

Good to see Carlo Rizinni there again. He told me he will soon have some more .410 cartridge reviews uploaded.

We nearly missed the event this year as they were fully booked when I rang several weeks before, but to my delight we got a cancellation.

Congratulations to Outdoor Dad for producing this excellent report within 48 hours of the event,and for shooting an 86 which was only a few birds short of the main prize list.

Watch the gun cam footage closely.

If a person never saw, or never understood, what “fast to start, and fast to stop”, means, just watch the footage.

That is the cardinal rule of shooting .410

Did anyone notice the dot did not correspond with the center of the pattern impacts?

I thought he might have been canting the shotgun.

But I did notice every time he jumped the gun ahead of the bird and then stopped it.

I’m super glad that he put the work in necessary to make the video. It’s a difficult task, creating content like that.

The pattern centers 6” below the dot I think.

86 is not a bad score. Winner shot a 93

Edward Martin was shooting the first Longthorne .410, and was disappointed to score 61 but enjoyed his day.

I too enjoyed my day, despite a much worse score than his.

He was squadded earlier than us, but we seem to have both caught the same rain shower.

The guys who use a shot cam, is it for the video or just to add some weight to the barrels?

Don't you think they could add weight for less expense than buying a camera? C'mon man.

I’m sure the camera helps to smooth the swing but many of the videos I’ve seen are of marginal value. I would agree that a few rare earth magnets from Amazon at the end of the barrel would do the same thing.
