Just out of idle curiosity I visited a four page thread from nearly twenty years ago that I had posted in. In those four pages I saw four names, including me, might of been three, that still occasionally post these days. All of the others were active in the forum at that time.
I wonder why they all went away ?

I was young when I first started reading about doublegun mechanics and the sporting life. Forty years later, I’m not. So, I’d say many are dead. Those that would have been younger participants then, just choose to spend their time elsewhere.
I know a handful that left here because of the stuff that people regularly complain about that aren’t dead.
Some will be happy about that, and some will not. C’est la vie.
Out there doing it best I can.

Any of these guys?
2 Piper Larry Brown King Brown Run with the Fox Michael Petrov SkeetTX John Mann treblig1958 PeteM Geno Rabbit Clunkermeister Frank Otte Don Moody PA24 Ken Hurst
Just off the first page of the membership list, those are confirmed no longer with us, or, like Larry Brown, sadly, soon not to be with us and no longer posting. There are a couple others that I strongly suspect are in that same boat, but, don’t know them well enough to document it.
Keep going.

On and on. Every single page has guys that will no longer post.
Twenty years ago is a long time when a guy wrote “retired” in his profile.
Best, Ted

I’m sure there’s others.
Folks that I know who are still alive but rarely or no longer post here, have given me a couple of reasons…. Many have mainly gotten tired of the same guys posting in every thread, basically turning this board into something like Facebook for old heads. The other reason is the liberal dorks flappin their gums and whining all the time. I suppose the people I know who’ve left this board just figure their time is better spent outdoors wetting lines, running dogs, hiking, shooting and enjoying life. Nobody I know has ever said to me they left because of Keith.
Frac-otte passed away? Damn. That’s a shame, I really liked him. Super nice fella. John Mann, I miss that man too. What a wonderful human. Those were the days.

I have had several tell me they left the forum over keith's behavior, even met a few new clients at the gunshow that way. Several of those who left have indeed passed on now, not all though. One extremely talented member who posted his work in the past told me he no longer frequents the forum due to the negativity, he is still doing great work, but we don't see it here any more.
Plenty have died, others have moved on to places where people behave like adults instead of petulant toddlers.

Reading that list that Ted posted made sad. I knew some were gone, but not some others listed.
Going way back, I remember Tex and Ol' Lightning. Walt Snyder used to post some great info, along with the late Oscar Gaddy.
The board was fun and seemed a little more professional or gentlemanly back then. I don't say that to start another feud, just my observation.
The fact that the board has been around for 25+ years is quite an achievement.

You used to be able to post anonymously. Best, Ted ________________________________________________________ A shit show. Wonko was here.

I frequently go back many pages at random to read old posts from years ago. I always come away melancholy over the many highly knowledgeable guys who are no longer with us. Life is short.

I also wonder how many people who are here now were here before the great plague of 2002 ?
