Sorry to hear that. I really admire the vintage rifles and shotguns they made. I haven’t seen so much of their recent work. Either way it’s sad for a historic maker to close.

[URL=https://imgbox.com/iCtZ7dMl] ![[Linked Image from thumbs2.imgbox.com]](https://thumbs2.imgbox.com/d6/14/iCtZ7dMl_t.png) [/URL I remember looking in their windows about 50 years ago, when stringent security was less of an issue, and admiring a couple of Mannlicher Schoenauer carbines stood in the rack with Parker Hale cleaning rods inserted in the muzzles as they were too short otherwise to fit in the rack. The good news is their Bisley branch is staying open.

So, William Evans is not going under. They are closing one of their retail outlets. I remember when Evans started selling non London made guns for less than their London guns. What year was that? The London guns were retailing for Purdey prices at that time. Not too long ago, the London priced guns disappeared from their catalogs. I guess they closed the shops that built guns from scratch, and started finishing up the Spanish or Italian guns, or whatever they were. Hopefully, they were not Turkish. What, exactly, will Evans be doing now? I will continue to shoot my pair of Evans sidelocks without regard to their future resale value.

Sounds like the high rent facility got to be too high rent. Bet those business rates drop right down when an immigrant selling black sesame oil, camel milk, and khat moves in.
Hope the remaining location can keep it going.
Best, Ted

The shop at Bisley Camp is actually a friendly, useful place to go. I expect they will have some bargains on their sale rail as the London shop is cleared out... Only 50 miles to drive for me, but a bit further for Ted and Stan.

Even the $80,000 Evans guns (last prices before they deleted them from the catalogs) were not actually made in the Evans shops. They were mostly built by W&C Scott or Webley and Scott on the extension rib locking action, the Webley Screw Grip. The Webley built Evans full sidelock guns are extremely nice. At the going price, I'm sure Evans hasn't sold a new one in decades.

HB Yes, a bit!
May God bless America and those who defend her.
