Some time ago, likely 10+ years on this website, there was a discussion about A.O. Zischang, and someone found and posted a photo of Zischang when he was with Lefever. From memory, I think it showed a group of men and a chalkboard with "Zischang" written on it. Any help in locating this photo is greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Joe Dobrzynski

What page of that long thread was the Zischang picture posted? I have Zischang's Super Fox and would like to see what he looked like. I realize the Fox may not have been his personal gun, but it letters to him.

Michael posted the (or should I say a) Zischang picture on page 12, but like the dozens of great pictures on that thread, Photobucker deleted it.

I believe the photo that you are looking for of Zischang at the Lefever Arms factory appeared in Robert Elliot's book, "Uncle Dan Lefever: Master Gunmaker".

I looked for it in the earlier book,"Lefever: Guns of Lasting Fame", but didn't find it.

I'll check the other book when I get home. If I can get a good picture of the photo, I'll post it.

I looked in Elliot's second Lefever book as well, and didn't find the photo you are looking for.

A. O. Zischang is mentioned on pg. 24 as the barrel shop superintendent for Nichols and Lefever Co, and again on pg.28, where there is a photo of a Nichols and Lefever 10 ga. shotgun he owned. This book also has a photo of men working in the Lefever Arms factory, but Zischang is not present. His name also does not appear on the photo of the chalk time-board.

I wish I could recall where else I saw a photo of him. It may have been in "The Story of Pope's Barrels", or James Grant's "Single Shot Rifles", or C.S. Landis' "Woodchucks and Woodchuck Rifles.

I did find this one in Tom Rowe's book on A. O. Zischang:
