I've seen similar before, but am CRSing on what it it looks like.

It's not the same as any of the other four Superposeds I have on hand.

I've found several more Superposeds on line with triggers that look the same, so far, all have been FN guns, not Browning marked.

The gun (and all the other ones I've found online) appears to have the standard Superposed selector on the tang mounted safety.

Got 'er figured out: It's an "Olympic", or "Olimpico" trigger.

An upgrade for target guns, which this one pretty clearly is.

Supposed to be more adjustable/tunable for trigger pull, and it's mechanical vs. inertial, which is good, even though all Superposed triggers by 1978 should have been that way already.

Just ugly compared to the standard Superposed trigger. How does the shape of the trigger make it a mechanical trigger?

Two thoughts:

A few thoughts:

  • I agree, but don't care if it's uglier if it works better.
  • I don't believe it's the external shape that makes it mechanical, but the inner workings.
  • All Superposeds after some point in the early 1970s had mechanical triggers, and they are still made that way today.
  • The "Olimpico" or "Olympic" triggers are supposed to be an evolution of, and better than, the "regular" mechanical trigger installed in most Superposeds.
  • The external shape was supposed to be more ergonomic than the standard trigger shape.

I won't be able to confirm any of that until the gun gets here.

Are not all triggers mechanical? What is a non mechanical trigger? Electrical?

There's mechanical triggers and inertia triggers.

Ok. I would consider interial triggers mechanical also, but I understand the contrast.

BrentD, Browning inertia triggers require recoil from the 1st shell to reset and enable the gun to fire the 2nd shot. Mechanical triggers require no recoil to set the 2nd trigger. Simply pull the trigger for the 1st shot and the 2nd shot is ready to go without recoil for reset.

Socialism is almost the worst.

Some of the early Superposed Brownings had the twin single trigger, appeared to be two triggers, but, the front trigger would fire both barrels in order, open and then tight.

Seemed like a really good idea. A few Darnes rolled out the door like that, and I’ve seen a few Larona (Spanish) guns with the same type of trigger.

Best,
Ted
