Have my eye on a 16ga NID field grade. What year did they switch to 3pt checkering? ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/ncnqtpyw/1363813-IMG-5448.jpg)

It looks like this gun is absent cocking indicators so I searched and found the following.
The Ithaca New Ithaca Double (NID) lost its external cocking indicators around 1935. This change coincided with other design updates, including the introduction of border engraving on the receiver and the replacement of the Deeley forearm latch with a Baker J-spring. I hope this is some help.

Just an observation… JR

Those NID Field Grades from 1935 to WW-II are the best. After WW-II they went to a smaller patch of grip checkering and some of the last have no frame engraving. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/7ExQ0Te.jpg)
