------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gentlemen,
I recently examined a friends Parker 12 gauge hammer gun he is looking to sell.
It is a lifter action, plain twist barrels and is marked March 16 1875 as it's latest patent date. It has a steel butt plate and the barrels are marked Parker Bros Maker. It also has a small shield escrunction on the top of the wrist. It's serial number is 18867 PNT.
I'd say it was NRA antique very good, but the bore is pitted and the gun needs a good cleaning.
Any ideas of when it was made or market value?

According to s/n 18867, this gun was made in 1880.
Value is based on condition. Would need more info and pictures.

NRA Antique Very Good with pitted bores....

Would you say it was a very g0od wall-hanger or a poor condition shooter ?
In the first case that would rate it a PH/VG-W-hanger-/P-B...as a shooter it would rate PH/PCS-/P-B=TYLIYOH's-TC

I purchased an 1881 straight stock 12 gauge Parker with Twist barrels several years ago from Dixie Gun Works. I paid about $850.00. The barrels had small pitts and I shot it at the Southern in 2006 with Winchester AA Extra Lite 1 oz factory shells. At sporting clays and dove I mostly shoot hand loads of 1 oz at 1150 fps and 5100 psi.

I paid 650 and 700 for two Parker lifters. Both twist barrel guns with good wood, some pitting in the bores. I would think any gun that old would have some pitting, or someone " cleaned " them up. Both guns are shot twice a week at clays with low pressure handloads. Paul

Homeless,
After cleaning the bore, I'd probably shoot it with BP or a BP sub. The action is snug but not tight.
