Hey all, went out today after Mass, just had a couple hours before it got hot. Didn't see many at all. In fact just got up one small group. Managed to get two. Also jumped some huns, got two, but lost one, damn! Addie did very well, very happy with her! Used my 12ga AyA SL XXV Stay well my friends Greg ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/JnZP85b7/20250921-125220.jpg)

That's a "Grand MacNab", George.
Having attempted a MacNab several times, I tip my hat to Dukxdog for his accomplishment.
I'd love to see the fish/ hear the story.

With Scotland's year round deer eradication program, it won't be long and a MacNab will be nigh impossible.
The MacNab is daylight to dark on the same day. The fish were not anxious to play. Four of us tried but I was the only guy to get a take. They have had a hard fish season. Only 38 salmon caught this year as opposed to 140+ last year! Minimal rain was the big factor. We drove to Dunkeld to visit JP Daeschler at John Dickson & Son. I have a Dickson Round action made in 1880 I used regularly for pheasants. Haggis was EXELLENT! Also Cullen Skink! We had a super visit to Scotland. Highly recommended. My friends are all planning to return for another try at the MacNab ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/qBFLYN9f/IMG-6142.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/KYWrbm0v/IMG-9108.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/y8VTXQJB/IMG-9686.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/vByjyH1w/IMG-9685.jpg) ![[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]](https://i.postimg.cc/cC6YDyyS/IMG-9597.jpg) Haggis, Tatties & Nips with Whiskey gravy

There is an article about a MacNab adventure in the 2025 August edition of The Field magazine, titled 'When a Macnab becomes a Macnot"pgs. 64-69.

I met J P Daeschler at a Game Fair a few years ago, He was very pleasant and helpful although all I was going to buy was one of his excellent stock finishing kits. | | |

Good first hunt of the season. Not a big bag, but a good time with old friends. Pleasant weather which was nice for a change. The birds left when the good weather came in, so you can't have it all. I used a 20 gauge Trojan I bought off this site years ago. Still a favorite. ![[Linked Image from tntfiles.com]](http://tntfiles.com/thumb/86c69c2477069e68af42f45a9341381fcc8e7b500250b8d9bdc1668a965444b6.jpg) ![[Linked Image from tntfiles.com]](http://tntfiles.com/thumb/151fb51ae6febe87c19a7030a66bc472015b5a2950a93b5a885d9633c1945850.jpg) |

Not many birds on a recent trip to Wyoming, I did get a couple and if there is more beautiful country than the Tetons during peak foliage, I sure have not been there. My new to me Setter Trudy along with my first Sage Grouse. I adopted Trudy (a Berg Brothers Setter) this past Spring, we seem to be getting along just fine. I have high hopes for her and it sure looks promising. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/dsvVP1ul.jpg) First Ruff too. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/AGVdpHal.jpg) We might not have shot many birds on this trip but my hunting partner and I had a ton of fun and will likely be back. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/vzutetbl.jpg)
