What's the deal with these guns. I see it posted under a description from time to time. Are sellers PO'd over Litt's?? There stil is a little bit of a savings from the UK but why all the anger?

You might get some response if you clarify the post. I, for one, have no idea what your post is about.

Maybe this is what it is all about. Perazzi had an ad that said:
"We have recently seen our Model XII modified by adding sideplates and other markings of our Extra Gold and SCO guns and then being passed off in the market as originals."
The ad continues with more info.

Mark,
Unless someone borrowed your handle, I haven't seen you post in years.
Drop me a note when you get a chance.

Boxbirder, I believe you are talking about the anger of the "approved" US dealers/distributor over the guns bought outside the US and brought here to be sold as "new" and that people are buying overseas for their personal use while saving the high cost of a US distributor imported gun. If that's the case, I can tell you that I overheard some scuttlebutt that may have come from the factory authorized distributor stating that he would not work on nor warranty any "gray market" gun. This was during the time when I was looking for a Pgun 4-5 yrs ago. As I understand it, there is only one factory authorized distributor for the US and he is in So. Calif and actually had a display at our local range for a while before the LA County donks ruled gun sales illegal on the county leased grounds.
Anyway, I'm not sure how a company that prides itself on being a company that markets products globally to the fairly affluent public that obviously travel to competitions across the world, could have a distributor/service network that didn't honor a factory warranty or service their product based on nothing more than where it was purchased.
So, I bought a Kgun. Screw 'em. If they can't figure out how to market their products in the US at prices competitive with sources in other countries, they deserve to have the gray market problem.

Go to the Grand this week. Pizza guns are famous for destroying the market by blowing out any leftovers below dealer cost to any one with the money. bill

Hey Mike good to hear from you, yes I am still shooting pigeons. But the last few years I have been focused more on trapping than shooting. Trapping has always been my first passion next to shooting.

I believe the Gray Market guns refer to basic MX-8's, Mirages, etc, that have been upgraded by adding Perazzi factory engraving patterns, sometimes by the very engravers that Perazzi contracts with for the work.
The result is a gun of equal or better quality engraving that looks just like an SCO or SCO Gold, but has been upgraded to that level independent of Perazzi. The result is the same gun, same engraving and cost savings tot he owner of $5,000 to $10,000. I have one of these guns.
It's my understanding that Perazzi continues to actively discourage this activity anong the dealers and engravers.

Gray Market guns are generally guns brought into the country from overseas dealers by independent gun dealers and marketed at a substantial discount on what the local distributor is pricing his guns.
As an authorised factory distributorthese people are expected to carry large stocks of guns and parts and provide service back up for the product.
If a pirate opperator brings in guns and sells them at low margins and provides no back up, why should the Authorised Distributor warrant these guns.
No business man is going to invest in a business that can be pirated. Try buying a grey market Ford or Chevrolet, in the auto industry if a dealer sells a new product to a non authorised dealer for resale thier franchise is terminated immediately.
The reputation of any product is only as good as the warranty and service back up and this can only be achieved through the franchise system where Manufacturers can demand what dealers must do to earn and keep thier franchise, and can where necessary fire a dealer for non compliance.
A few bucks saved on the purchase price can turn sour when you find the gun needs to go back to the dealer in the country from where it origionally came.
I fully support any manufacturer procting the value of his Franchise.
