I've used it on small whitetail does, and it hardly penetrated. The bullets are not so good. Shoot them or pull bullets, and re-load the brass with good bullets. The 7X57R and 7X65R 175gr Cutted-edge bullets were almost frangible. My good friend in Kansas, where we hunted, guides, and he was standing next to me twice when I made shoulder shots at 100-125 yards and got mad at me for "poor shooting"; I had hit her well, however. This first deer took off, not to be found. I was shooting a circa 1956 Sauer LUX 16/16/7X57R with 6X Hensoldt that I have used for years with Norma ammo, something I was now out of. Later we had a similar shot on another doe, and it was a repeat.
He shot the deer with my gun after I had hit her, and it ran off into a creek bottom 1/2 mile away. We caught up with it, and I head shot the poor thing. Paul was aghast to see the wounds he had done. They were shallow and wide. This is no exaggeration, and I am still sad over what happened.
I highly recommend finding some Norma or Nosler bullets and load with them or any other good bullets. The S&B ammo is accurate, and their brass seems fine. Reloader 15 is your friend.
