There is a Lyman cocking piece sight on ebay, I don't know the seller, but here is the link Lyman cocking piece sightI have a cocking piece for a 1903 Springfield cut for a sight like this, I feel like I don't do enough to support this forum. So if you would want this sight and would like to send a $25 contribution to the forum, I would be happy to send you a slotted cocking piece for a 1903 . This is in the spirit of Whitey and J.D. Steele.

Went to ebay to look, the sight is sold, but there was a 03 bolt with a Hoffman marked Howe Whelen sight for the bargain price of $1606.49! Is that the going rate on them now?

Always makes me smile when JD Steele or Whitey Hansen's names are mentioned. Whitey was a good friend, and JD was an online acquaintance I corresponded with often. Both great guys!

Thank you to PhysDoc for posting the link and offering up the cocking piece in support of the forum. I think the sight will look great on a rifle I’m building for my daughter.

You are welcome, I thought that was a decent price on that sight. I am working on rifles for my son and daughter as well, we should share updates.

$1,600 plus for the Hoffman marked Howe-Whelen sight is pretty ridiculous. They’re usually in the $500-600 range. But, I have the original Hoffman Arms shop ledger from Cleveland in 1923 and one hundred years ago they sold that sight for $25! So it’s always been an expensive item.
