Geoffroy wasn’t that old at all.
I recently (about 5 or 6 months ago) had several lively, technical and fun conversations with him about a Damon-Petrik shotgun that I was working on. He helped me out quite a bit. He also helped me out with Darnes, going back to the early 2000’s. What a damn shame. How sad.

He was 65 years old. Did 4 projects over the years including one that was finished last summer. Was going to have him engrave a dog whistle for me at the Southern next month. Wonderful man. This morning I went back and looked at the various emails we had sent to each other. Will have to archive those now. They go back for over 10 years.

Geoffroy was a friend to me. He would share anything he knew with me, and his advice was always sound. I have just one gun he did some engraving on, a stock sling mount on a 28 gauge V19 that he had installed for me. Might be the only one in the world that is engraved.

I’ll miss the ability to email him and chat. He was a bicycle guy, too.

Godspeed.

Best,
Ted

Geoffroy was a great guy, very open to any conversation. The Southern Side by Side and the Allentown Show will be lesser events without him. He has been on our Christmas card list for years, ever since we started discussing my project. So sad, so young. Bill Murphy

Very sad news. My wife and I always enjoyed chatting with the Gournets at shoots and conventions. He was always pleasant and interesting and knew a lot about practical gunsmithing. I needed new mainsprings for my wife's 20 ga Ideal and he insisted on giving me the springs from his personal gun and would take no money. He said he would replace his on his next trip to France. He has done wonderful work restoring the engraving on several projects and no job was too small for his attention.

A true shame. Geoffrey was a gentleman of the highest order. He was a source of much information and a pleasure to talk with. He will be greatly missed. Prayers for his family and friends.

I'm sorry to hear this. I met him face-to-face at Bray's Island last time he was there. In April of 2016, long after he gave up gunsmithing to concentrate on engraving, he did me a good turn by fitting a needed mainspring in a Darne R10 16 ga. I contacted him via email. At the time he was visiting St. Etienne and upon his return he fitted the gun and had it back to me in 2 weeks. He either had the spring at home or picked it up during his visit to France. It didn't hurt that Ted greased the skids with him to help me out. It was definitely above and beyond the call of duty that both helped me out of a bad situation. Gil
