When I first started in the trade ( 1973) you only had Shotgun News. Later Michael Tenny and his girl friend started the Gunlist where things were nicely organized. I later noticed that as the Gun List took off, Shotgun News headed more toward ads for military surplus and AR and defensive stuff. Much later when Michael Tenney sold the gun list they too headed toward the defensive and military surplus stuff and got away form the stuff that you and I like.
Yes, I realize that the internet took over the ads for the nice stuff, I think. Up until a few years ago I still did see both of those papers on sale at the book stores, but no more. Just wondering if they are still around.

I had Firearms News for some time. It was all over the place, of course new guns, many of them black guns (I’ve no problem with that, but, no interest either) and the occasional page or two about some old gun, it always amazed me how they could find so many I didn’t care in the least about-there is a Zulu musket conversion hanging in my garage, but, only because I don’t care about it, can’t legally stuff it in the trash and I don’t need to read another word about one. They do a good job of getting a little bit of everything in the magazine, but, my interests are pretty specific and narrow. Not their fault, but, I’m not buying.

Gun List . . . otherwise known as Gun Lust. Before the Internet got into the game, it was like a giant classified section for guns and related gear. I both bought and sold using Gun List. Only disappointment I had was when Ibought a 20ga sxs that had been advertised as a 16ga. Figured I could return it, but the seller had passed away in the interim.
