Raimey could you post a pic of the 32 bore? Curious does it have hammers and folding stock?

Several years ago there was a company doing something similar with continental guns. I think the name was Burnside(?) They had some pretty decent J.P. Sauer and Simson doubles for $3-400. Plus a lot of beaters and some Belgian guns.

Be very careful about buying from this auction house. I bought a gun from them back in 2019, the pictures looked great and the description was positive. When I got the gun, it was seriously off face and the barrels were heavily pitted. It would be impossible for the auction house not to have known the description was inaccurate. Since the gun was sold 'AS IS' the the online auction website said I had no recourse.

There was that whole kerfuffle years ago where the Montrose folks had a fake LC Smith 410 in an auction. It took an arm and a leg to get them to pull it. They have glitzed up their website a lot since then, but I would not buy from them other than in-person. They are probably trying to emulate the results of Rock Island and Morphy's.

They are also not in a part of Georgia where I would expect a lot of nice English doubles to land naturally. I would be cautious.

I would add that the area is relatively close to the port of Savannah. I doubt anyone would pay the cost of air freight for those guns so they could have brought a couple crates over by sea, speculatively.

I’ve only bought one item from this company.
A Krag sporter. The description was pretty vague but in one picture I could make out .22 cal on the receiver.
I took a chance on the gun which didn’t get much interest and won the auction. When I got the gun it did indeed have a .22 trainer receiver but had an aftermarket barrel that was short chambered in 30-40 Krag. Needless to say the gun was likely unfired with with that barrel.

I have had 5 or 6 nothing but positive experiences with Montrose. I always take a look. I consider them significantly better than average as a company/ dealer/ people. Their stuff is firmly “more used” in general but has often been just right for me. It’s right there for you to see and make you own decision, no discredit to them.

You must have some knowledge about the physical location that I'm not privy to, Dan. Greensboro is nowhere near Savannah. The only billboards I've ever seen for Montrose are between Macon and Griffin on I-75.

There have been many other makes that used a folding design and were far better quality than the El Faisan. Mine never doubled, and as far as I know it never was hauled on a bicycle, either. Pretty tough for a 12 lb. trigger to slip its' sear notch and double, IYKWIM.

It's vaguely suitable for hauling in a fishing boat to shoot water moccasins. That's about it, IMO. Better be careful when pulling those 12 lb. triggers though, even on a "sitting moccasin". It's mighty easy to flinch with triggers like that and moccasins can take a nasty attitude when frightened (and missed). They are $150 guns, at best. I'd rather have a picture of a Yildiz than own the El Faisan.

Disclaimer: No fine tree wood was damaged in the making of this gun. (Note the Ray Charles school of checkering design)
