China has been reducing exports of strategic materials for years:
https://www.reuters.com/markets/com...s-after-mineral-export-curbs-2023-07-05/It was bound to happen. There are quite a few areas in the US that feature mineable bismuth, usually near lead deposits. Mining and smelting lead has become the red headed stepchild of the industry, but, hopefully clearer heads will prevail as the US will need both materials in greater quantities in the future.
I bought two boxes of 20 gauge 2 3/4” 1 ounce bismuth 5s, just in case. Few areas I hunt are non toxic only, and I have been relying on some 16 gauge Heavi-metal loads I bought right here, years ago. There is one almost full box of bismuth 20 gauge a friend won at a duck’s unlimited banquet, which, he gave to me as he didn’t own a 20 gauge.
There is also a bit of steel here, but, I am loath to shoot steel at birds.
Best,
Ted
