I thought I would share some experiences, in case others are interested. In Jan I went to Dorchester Shooting Preserve to hunt/shoot quail. This was my 4th or 5 th visit. We usually go the end of jan or sometime in Feb. Part of the draw is getting away from Mich in Winter. I should start with a big part of the draw is meeting friends from Minn, that otherwise I might not see or hunt with all year. It is not a cheap date. This year there were more birds and if not wild as close as you can get on a place like this. We had covey's ranging from 4 to more than 40 birds. I think I can tell wild birds, as they are never far from thick thick cover and when flushed are zig zagging and gone in a minute. You hunt behind pointers and they use cockers to flush. The dog work is good but don't expect far ranging dogs that you would see if you were on horseback or in a wagon. It is all walking. so the dogs range must closer. My wife went along and she shoots clays with us the first arrival day and walks in the field, but doesn't hunt. This place is outside Midway Ga. You stay ii homes owned and leased back to the preserve. The meals and lodging are very good.
