Is anyone familiar with a James Kerr English gun. The quality ect.

I talked with them awhile back about this gun. It looks to be of very good quality and in good condition but...they told me the action was loose...and I think he said $1300.00 would buy it.
It would probably be worth fixing if there are no other issues.

I have a Kerr underlever in .500EXP (50-110).

Kerr may have made a few items, but was basically a retailer or assembler/finisher and at one time was Winchester's British rep.

The few guns I've seen with his name were of good quality. So again, you're buying the gun, not the name.

The gun shown is of "middlin'" original quality and looks to be in pretty good current condition. It was most likely made for the USA/Canadian market due to the stock drop (that may be hard to fix). Price is not unreasonable, IMO.

That Cabela's double is pretty nice. You don't see many 10's in that sort of condition.

I'll be driving by tomorrow and may get a chance to stop and take a peak at it in person tomorrow. Not in the market myself, but I'd be happy to look for someone else if time permits.

Rocket I'd say it alittle more than 'middlin'...pop up the pics and look at the engraving.
I saw you priced an unseen Cashmore at $2300 and it's description was well below 'middlin'....a good stock bender can raise her an inch.

Weeeelllll, the Kerr sure isn't in the same OQ grade as the Purdey and Scott you posted, is it? And, it sure isn't in the plainjane border engraved no frills wood OQ grade either. So, I don't think "middle of the road" is too far off. That stock doesn't look to me like a candidate for a radical bend - could be wrong on that one, though.

The description of the Cashmore fits to the price I quoted. But, per disclaimer, I don't know for sure how well the gun fits to the description.

If it was about 3/4 pounds lighter I buy the gun myself. Eight plus pounds guns are just no fun to tote anymore with a bad back and semi old legs. Using my homemade 10/12 chamber sleeves it would make a heck of a fun hammer gun to shoot a few preserve chickens or early ducks. I bet a 7/8 or one ounce shot load would be a blast to shoot in that old girl. I have a birthday coming up and I might be good between now and then so maybe my wife might buy it for me. Where to leave the note this time....?

James Kerr together with his brother John dba/ The London Armoury patented & sold revolvers that were imported and supplied to Confederate Forces by Confederate Navy Captain James Bullock and Caleb Huse both factors and arms suppliers for the Confederacy. The Kerr revolver was much prized by Confederate Cavalry for it's reliability and quality of manufacture.
