I recently got this rifle with Lovell's name on the barrel. I "know" him by reputation as a metalsmith, and this work is well done. The stock is 40's style varmint but well done, and I wonder if he did wood work too. The catalog called this rifle a 22 Savage HP which is clearly in error. It's almost certainly a 219 Zipper which I'll verify soon by firing. Who would have been a likely barrel maker for Lovell? The receiver is quite nicely engraved and signed H. Hilton. Any information on him would be helpful.

I have a barrel nicely marked with Hauck's info that was originally in R2 Lovell. At some point it was remounted on an original Stevens 44 1/2 and chambered in 219 Donaldson Wasp. Obviously they were a tight bunch of fellows back then.

Any chance of posting pictures, Bill? I am not a big fan of varmintized 85s, but they are still the best rifles ever made regardless of configuration, and I am sure we would all like to see it.
