Just purchased a new Rizzini BR550 12 g side by side. I haven't fired a shot through the gun yet, butI have found that once the forend is snapped into position on the barrels with the gun closed, either being cocked or uncocked, it's almost impossible to remove the forend from the barrels. I have lubed well both matching surfaces where the forend sits up tightly against the end of the flats. It has a push button forend release mechanism and the only way I can get it to come away is by trying to get my finger between the push button after it has been fully depressed and the barrels and lever it away. Even this action is extremely difficult, I have nearly worn of the skin on the end of my thumb.

I'm hoping this will ease somewhat after some use, it seems that once the forend is snapped into position it is pushing very hard up against the frame of the action.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with a very tight fitting gun?

Use the end of a wooden cleaning rod or dowel instead of your thumb and it should be easier .Hth.

I've seen new doubleguns that were very tight in that regard. She likely just needs shooting a bunch.

When I first bought my 686, I could hardly get it open to load it. I'd just shoot the gun. Most new guns are tight anyways.

Thanks to the posters for their assistance. I picked up a plastic shoe horn type tool which when inserted behind the depressed forend button and gently levered away from the barrels seems to have fixed my problem. A simple but effective solution.

The forend on My BR550 in 410 was much the same way. But it got better as I shot it. The gun is stiff overall.

Sometimes partially opening the gun before attempting to remove the forend makes the job much easier.
