https://amzn.to/3zm1XS0Over the next few months I am going to be displaying and presenting on the relationship between the United States in Pinfire at The American Society of Arms Collectors Show, Texas Gun Collectors Show, maybe a few others. To go along with this display and ASAC presentation I put together a 56 page monograph that puts together a lot of my research over the past couple decades on this topic.
This monograph explores the crucial role of pinfire technology in the Civil War, examining its use on the battlefield and its impact on military strategy. It highlights the innovations of American gunsmiths like Sneider, Davis, Krider and Genez, showcasing their contributions to adapting European pinfire designs for American use. The influence of pinfire technology on major manufacturers such as UMC is also traced, demonstrating its role in shaping the future of American ammunition production. From battlefield revolvers to sporting shotguns, pinfire technology linked European design with American ingenuity, influencing the evolution of firearms in the United States.
Some of the information on American pinfire sporting guns was originally intended for articles in the Double Gun
Journal, but the journal closed before I could publish my first piece. I've detailed much of this on my website as well.
If you're attending any of the upcoming shows mentioned, you're welcome to a free copy. For anyone else, it's available on
Amazon. It's the only publication on this specific topic, and I plan to release more books in this series, covering subjects like early Pauly guns, Casimir Lefaucheux and his firearms, and pinfire cartridges in general. Be sure to get the first volume today!
