While shooting a round of sporting, I shot with a couple of new guys.
-Blaser F3 -Dt10eel side plate -Sp 686 -A400 -K80-Parcours
They had a tradition of switching guns for the last station. I took the a400 as it was the only other LH. I 'll be damned as each of us ran the station.
Another Time, but each us just swung and to a person it was "your gun swings better" -Kolar -F16 -Parcours-diff one -Perazzi mx2000 -A10 -Trap superposed in 32, Broadway , Wide beavertail, Old pad.
I swung the Superposed and I could'nt believe how well it was balanced. Like a magic wand.
Another time, I had to borrow a Winchester 101 with shorter barrels and it was RH. I shot it damn well that day
Really gets the gun lust fired up. But the observation is that perfect gunfit is overated and with a diff gun you are forced to shoot more consciously, opposite to CW, at least that is what those new guys were saying. True perhaps for a stand, not 100 IMH. But i found it interesting nonetheless

It’s always fun to shoot some different guns.
I suspect the optimal way to determine what configuration is best for an individual is to
“Identify which presentations are preventing you from winning” determine if it is technique or equipment? Can different equipment smooth technique deficiencies and improve average score?
Make small changes to equipment
If scores rise, keep tweaking.
If you shoot at many different clubs, you see what I mean. It’s an optimized game. You can go somewhere new and it’s like you’ve never touched a shotgun before. And then another regular is running it with a .410 😳
Out there doing it best I can.

“Identify which presentations are preventing you from winning" determine if it is technique or equipment? Can different equipment smooth technique deficiencies and improve average score? Likely technique .......... failure to perfect the basics and repeat them every time you call "Pull". The masses think it's a game of buying your way to higher scores with more and better equipment. It's neither. It's mastering the basics, and repeating them perfectly every station, or every bird. I've found that mastering pool (billiards) is the same, exactly. Basics are everything. Failure in either results in a miss.
May God bless America and those who defend her.

Saw this this other day....former Special Forces buddy of mine used my 1897 Reilly Hamer gun and broke 14 clays in a row on our difficult sporting clay course and asked to buy it. Agree with Stanton but those are pretty much the rules of life whether for sports or finance or whatever. Always go back to the basics. Nick Saban talked about "the process," mastering the fundamentals, and results will come. Golf is very similar. It doesn't matter the clubs, if the technique is right, things will happen.

Actually, because of new gunnitus as described, I just figured out how to shoot rabbits consistently. It just clicked.

I always thought patterning a shotgun on a patterning board was to check the point of impact and also to check for holes/coverage in the pattern. Given this Jimmy, I don not understand when you say if you can get your head in a position to see down the rib that you can adapt to any gun. How would one adapt to holes in a pattern especially if they did not know the holes existed? Help me understand better just what you mean in your post. Thanks.
