The stock is a straight-hand w/ a Horn grip, so a German Horn Grip with a Bavarian style cheekpiece. It was made between 1897 & 1912 and I am going to say in Suhl. The rifle barrel was either by a Kelber or Klett, depending on how you define the K in a ratchet. Then in Oktober 1943 there was some type of repair & all tubes were submitted for reproof. That is one beautiful set! Drool, drool.I see that new Norma 9.3x72R brass is available now. I just picked up 100 pieces to cut off to make 360 2 1/4 for my 360 Nitro Express Rigby and my 9.3x57R (360) rifles.

this is the sort of thing that motivates me to continue going to the small shows....nicely done - now be on the lookout for the correct 193 grain two-diameter bullets that will likely be called for.
best regards,
tom

The adornment on the side-frame reinforcement somewhat resembles the „Raschsche Karreegravierung“, or Rasch Square(s) Engraving, seen on G.L. Rasch offerings and accomplished by a talented artist in Herzburg whose name still remains elusive.

I do wonder what the repair might have been??? The chambers weren't lengthened. Maybe the 9,3X72R was standardized? Something that required both tubesets to be submitted so something like a hinge pin or something frame related? Can you see any repair to the frame?

It does appear that most of the screws have been turned.

No, I haven't seen any as yet. I still haven't really taken it apart and deep cleaned it yet, but I will be looking for signs of repairs when I do.

Raimey, I couldn't find anything that would absolutely require reproof either. I noted that the reproof was performed under the 1939 proof law, which was the first time it was required that the cartridge that was used in the gun was required to be shown by the name it was commonly called. My thought was that it may have been voluntarily submitted for proof to have the nominal chambering shown. Axel reported, some years ago, that rechambering 9.3x72R and 8.15x46R only to normalize the chambering did not require reproof. This was because the normalized cartridges were loaded to the same pressure as the old. Mike
