Go to Jaqua's. Under "list all catagories" pick FIELD. Old and new- pick BOTH. Manufacturers-pick WINCHESTER. Click on begin search.Go down to the bottom of page one and go to page 2. Go down 14 guns to Model 21, stock number- 217161.

Or just enter stock number 217161 on the first page.

What would you offer them for that gun? Would you even want it? Can it be fixed? What's your opinion?

Rusty
Wood scratch
What do you consider are the other issues

What will be the guns use?
Hunting, targets, safe queen?

Yes, it can be fixed, but at what cost?

I'd use it for hunting and as a target gun. Hopefully, the insides wouldn't be so rusted up where I couldn't. You could leave it as it is and use it as a beater in the field. But if it were me, I'd probably try to have it fixed. I would hate to have it pitted after it was fixed and had it reblued. I recently saw a nice 21, but I didn't buy it because it had been reblued and the rib was badly pitted. But I don't think they will ever sell it for $3,250 as it is. I'd offer them about $1,500 for it.

Years ago, at The National Gun Day gun show in Louisville, Charles Hancock had a 21 for sale that was really in bad shape. It was not rusted at all, but the side of the BTFE had a piece of wood missing at the top edge of it about 2 in long. The mid bead was sheared off and a lot of the blueing was gone. He had it for sale for $2,000. I was looking at it and he said, " What the heck! I'll let you have that for $1,600!" I took it home and had the center bead replaced and it turned into a really nice gun. Old style wood, double gold triggers it had been opened up from F/F to IC/IC and it made a great skeet gun and a beater pheasant gun. I put a leather pad on it too. I still have that gun today and it turned out to be really nice.

Jimmie, if you were at the Grand American right now and that gun was in Jaqua's rack, you might stand a chance. Over the phone, $3250.00 plus tax. Jaqua's has another 21 now that belonged to a friend of mine who passed years ago. I wanted that gun but they wouldn't come off the price a dollar, even though they've had it for months, maybe years.

It looks like they have some new model 21s now. They probably brought them back from the grand this week. I've noticed a few of them have come down in price this past week probably because they've been sitting there for months and they haven't sold. I don't think it will take them long to realize nobody is going to pay $3,250 for that gun. But I guess we'll have to see. I don't think I would want to take the time or the money to fix that gun. I just wonder if someone else on here would be interested in having it.

Which Model 21 do they have that belonged to your buddy- if I'm allowed to ask.
