I recognise the Wood Pigeon feather! Another thing I do with wood pigeon feathers is to save a bag full of the soft breast feathers and scatter them on the lawn in spring for the song birds to collect for nest building material. They come from far and wide to collect it. Lagopus.....

I like to use Grouse feathers, which looks totally appropriate in a book like Spiller's Grouse Feathers Karl ![[Linked Image from jpgbox.com]](https://www.jpgbox.com/jpg/70879_600x400.jpg)

lagopus, your idea is a very good one, and I'm sure other birds will appreciate it.

A late older friend routinely corresponded with Herbert Stoddard author of an important book on managing habitat for quail in his book, The Bobwhite Quail. Stoddard was a big proponent of managing habitat for quail and relied heavily on fire. In every letter my friend received from Stoddard, he enclosed a breast feather of a wild turkey gobbler. Gil

I have kept all the tom turkey beards from the Spring season hunts I've been on here in MI. Put them in an old Mason jar, with the empty shell casings. One shot in the neck at under 50 yards, No. 4 lead Remington express does the trick. Sure wish I could get the older Federal Premium loads-copper coated lead shot-RWTF
