Those guns have only one barrel. Who'd want 'em in the first place?

Oh please! Not long ago local shop had 20br Model 31 for $350. That model is rumored to be the best pump shotgun ever made.

31 designated skeet model went for 336 on GB last week. Course there was that Cutts on the end but it looked to be a very nice example rather than just reeking of antiquity and truck bed abrasion.

Who would want them, indeed. Perhaps you head in the sand types didn't notice that pretty much every American double gun maker either started building these, or was TU in short order. Yes, we like our doubles, but the first here to say a model 17 isn't a fine gun (per the rules of the board) will only brand himself an idiot-any takers?

I thought not.

Anyway, while the prices scare me, I'm comfortable with the fact that mine came decades ago, and has been used hard, modified some, used hard again, and modified some more. Never seen a gunsmith, never let me down. Deluxe 17s aren't all that common (mine is a deluxe, but, I never knew that until recently, as I was too busy hunting, shooting clays, and teaching gun safety with it) and I guess that was the price on this one.

Somebody around here says you don't pay too much, you just buy too soon. They are great guns.
Best,
Ted

Anyone have a spare barrel for a 17? Mine is chopped and has a Lyman choke on the end. Sad to say, I am the guilty party, having done it in the late 50's. Oh well.....

Joe,

Corson, http://www.corsonsbarrels.com/ has a 20 ga. full choke barrel, reblued for $300. Don't know if that's what you need. You could call them and ask them to look for what you need.

I've never used them, and have no commercial interest there.

Barrels are hard to find but there is an alternative.

Here is a conversation I had with Colonial Arms about making a "long choke tube" that could be soldered in and the barrel refinished. Sort of a mono blocking at 23"! It's cheap enough and but even a good refinish job might be visible in the right light.

Im looking for a custom tube for a 20 gauge that
would be your regular .675 x 44 tube but would be
extended 3" with no ports and choked skeet. Outside
diameter would be .715 .

Would this be doable and what would the cost be.

Thanks

Tim

Good Morning!
I believe we can handle this for you; however, it would have to wait
until
we ran 20TSPT1 again. The cost should still run in the neighborhood of
$45.50. Thank you and have a great day!
