I have a old Ithaca 680 20 ga O/U that the previous owner did I don't know what to. The metal finish is kind of.....well almost like it was removed by some sort of solvent? Not wore off, and not rusted off, even though there is some very minor surface rust. It just looks like the finish...almost like it peeled?

So tell me what kind of finish the original barrels had? It looks more black than blue.

If I want to remove the rest of it what to use? If it's not bluing but rather something else?

Ideas/suggestions?

So what do I do? Is there a chemical to remove it or does it get rubbed off or does it have to go to a specialist to get it redone?

Talk to Les Hovencamp at Diemond's gun shop, Ithaca, NY. 607-273-4510 after 3 pm.Les was the Ithaca repairman for many years.
