Can anyone tell me how to get the search function to either pick an older period of time or to find more than just the most recent 200 posts that match.

You can use the advanced search feature to search beyond all posts more than a year old. But you are still limited to 200 hits.
Use Google to search any website by qualifying it where to look with the word site:www.site_name. For example to search just this site it would be site:www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php
So if I wanted to search all posts from anytime using Google (or URL bar if using Chrome) for the keyword Ithaca on here you would type in-
Ithaca site:www.doublegunshop.com/forums/ubbthreads.php
In the results header of google there is a dropdown under tools that lets you set custom dates if you want to fine tune it to a date range. Or use other criteria.

Thanks Mike but ever since the new update was done, I can’t find the advanced search. Only the basic one. What am I missing?

click on the magnifying glass, when the tab opens look for the link to "advanced forum search " right below the input box for the normal search function.

I swear that line was not there last time I looked. click on the magnifying glass, when the tab opens look for the link to "advanced forum search " right below the input box for the normal search function. Thanks Steve and Mike.
