Anyone ever seen a list of a recommended double gun gunsmiths? Specifically I’d like to find one in CT, then souther New England or eastern NY, then maybe northern New England or maybe NJ. Guess there is always British Sporting Arms (eastern NY) or Griffin & Howe (CT or NJ). Also I heard Abe Chaber in CT is/was great. But not sure if he is still working. And not sure if Mike Orlen in MA does anything beyond barrel/choke work.
Trying to not ship guns unless I have to. Or maybe some recommended specialists? Parker specialist? Fox specialist? British specialist? Spanish specialist? All around double specialist?

I sent an email to Abe Chaber and British Sporting Arms to see what/if they might still offer for gunsmith services. Next up will probably be Mitch Schultz of Gunsmithing Limited:

if you are in CT, then Chaber is your A#1 goal. But he must be getting up in years and close to retirement. If not him, then ask him who he would recommend. Galazan is nearby, and they have good gunsmiths. Good luck.

Abe doesn't read emails I don't believe. That doesn’t surprise me. I’ll try calling him. Last I spoke to him was about 15yrs ago.

They are less than 20 minutes from me.

Dan Morgan in Woodstock, VT. Brian Dudley in NY. Charlie Yelletts in northeastern NY. Mitch S in Southport, CT. And Dewey Viknair in PA. Walter from BSA has retired but I think he takes work he likes. Isn’t there a SxS smith in eastern MA, Dan something or other.
